Overview and master plan process

PDX 2045 involves forecasting future needs, understanding current capacity, and comparing alternatives to meet changes and demand over the next 20 years.

PDX at-a-glance

PDX is made up of many parts. You are probably familiar with the terminal, but PDX has facilities for air cargo, fuel storage, and even its own fire department! How space gets used at PDX is a key part of the master plan update.

Planning and development

A timeline shows how PDX developed through the decades. Originally constructed in 1940, the most recent construction milestone is the PDX Next program that is expanding the main terminal.

A timeline shows how the last master plan update, in 2010, led to a new terminal area plan in 2014, terminal concept and design in 2017, and construction that began in 2021.
